An Cúigiú Domhnach den Cháis 9th/10th May

Scéal Maith/Good News

The Churches will re-open on Tuesday at noon. This is for private prayer. I encourage you to use the hand sanitiser as you visit which is available in the porch. Entrance will be by the main door and exit via the side door. There will be no Public Masses or Exposition this week. We continue to follow the guildelines given by the Diocese.

Mary is our strong and gentle teacher

During the month of May, let us reflect on the gift the Mother of God is to us. Let is ponder on the beauty of her intimate relationship to God.

The Church has often presented her as an ideal of passive, submissive femininity. We should treasure Mary as a model of strength, because in her “Yes” to God, she pondered his promise, even when it pierced her soul like a sword. What a powerful evocation of what it can mean to be God’s chosen.

On a visit to Lourdes, the only request to Our Lady of Lourdes was that she would give me a great love of her son. I noticed afterwards that his way of life became more precious to me. I learned to use his gifts to spread the Good News, whatever the cost. Mary showed me that “the Lord had done great things for me”.

We all have our way to Mary’s heart. One day at Mass, the celebrant, instead of giving a homily on Our Lady, sang the hymn, “Gently Woman”. The sincerity of his love for Mary touched many hearts that morning.
