NINE MILE WALK IN SUPPORT OF CARRICK AND MEENANEARY CHURCHES

Covid 19 has made its presence felt in almost every home. One home that sometimes gets forgotten about is our spiritual home, our local church where we all, at one time or another, seek refuge and solace or visit our dearly departed family and friends in the adjoining graveyard. Covid19 has left many churches bereft of funding, not least our own churches of St Columba’s Church Carrick and St Patrick’s Church Meenaneary which is organising a fundraising walk to carry out essential work to maintain both church buildings and the graveyard. The appeal is to both local people and the diaspora around the world who can donate using the following link (when asked which parish you are donating to, please select Carrick/Meenaneary):

Donations can also be made to Father Denis G Quinn directly.

Walking route:
Registration will open in both Meenaneary and Carrick at noon and the walk will start off at Meenaneary Chapel at 1pm in the direction of Carrick, then to Teelin Pier, to Clogher Road, finishing at Carrick car park, where refreshments will be provided in the old school Carrick community centre - home baking donations welcome on the day. You can join the walk at any point along the way, all level of walkers welcome.
A registration fee of €20 per person will apply - all children under 15 is exempt from the fee. On registration, each participant receives a ticket number and a raffle will be held in the community centre during refreshments at the end.
