What would we do?

If everything around us, excluding the human race, was reduced to dust for 12 hours, what would we do? What would be left?

We couldn’t go to work because we would have no transport. No place to work. No shops, to buy anything. No food, no drink; but above all, no distractions. Our only occupation for these 12 hours would be spent in the presence of other human beings, our nearest family and friends perhaps. In other words, our neighbours.

Suddenly, we would be aware of the importance of these people we so often forget about. The importance of communication, sharing, comforting and encouraging. We might discover that the source of happiness and peace lies in being there for one another.

We might also become aware that God has put us here to love Him and to love each other, and, as long as we have those two loves firmly established in our heart and reap the beauty thereof, the whole earth can crumble.
