Statement from Mark McNern regarding the Coláiste na Carraige Canteen
It is with huge regret that I am unable to continue with the canteen service at Coláiste Na Carraige.
I set up this business 10 years ago and I'm extremely disappointed to be leaving.
But unfortunately unlike other businesses that have received pandemic assistance payable on rates paid, I am not eligible for any grant aid or help of any kind and believe me I have tried every avenue!
With the two lockdowns and all the changes in the last year or more I am not in a position to continue.
I made this decision and contacted the ETB and the Principal at the end of March to make them aware of this.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Coláiste Na Carraige from serving dinners and snacks to the kids and having a chat with them to supplying and serving refreshments for every occasion throughout the years which was my way of giving back to our community and to the school.
I would like to thank all the students and parents, past and present and everyone who has supported me over the past 10 years.
I hope that someone would consider taking over the canteen and anyone interested can contact Coláiste Na Carraige or myself.
